On Sunday, 13 September 2015, the Central Coast Serbian Orthodox Mission Parish celebrated its patronal feast day, the Synaxis of the Serbian Saints, in Peats Ridge. Leading them in worship was His Grace the Right Reverend Bishop Irinej, who heads the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, headquartered in Alexandria, Sydney. The community was joined by many friends and supporters from Serbian communities in Rooty Hill, Alexandria, Mona Vale, Cabramatta and Hoxton Park. The Circle of Serbian Sisters, together with hosts Radovan and Pejka Trajkovic, prepared a delicious meal for all the guests, whilst a Serbian folkloric group from Rooty Hill entertained all with their intricate dancing in beautiful Serbian national dress.
This missionary endeavour began in 1994 with approximately 50 families. At present they have a beautiful property on Peats Ridge Road with a heritage building that is in part used as a chapel. The community is serviced by new, young priest, Fr Dalibor Pavlovic, from the St Nahum Serbian Orthodox Church in Newcastle.
A wonderful, prayerful and celebratory day was had by all in the beautiful and scenic rural Central Coast of Australia.
