On St Andrew’s feast day, Sunday 13 December 2015, His Grace Bishop Irinej celebrated hierarchical Liturgy at St George Historic Cathedral in Cabramatta, NSW. His co-celebrants were Very Reverend Protopresbyter-stavrophor Djuro Djurdjevic the dean of the Cabramatta parish, V. Rev. Protopresbyter-stavrophor Nikola Bilic dean of the Darwin parish, V. Rev. Presbyter Nemanja Mrdjenovic second parish priest of the Cabramatta parish, as well as V. Rev. Protodeacon Petar Mrakic and Rev. Deacon Aleksandar Ivanovic the secretary of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand. The Cabramatta parish choir, aided by a couple of voices from the Lazarica choir and directed by Ms Darija Galic M. Mus, sang angelically.

More than two hunderd faithful partook in the Holy mystery of Communion and embodied the true identity of the Church as the body of Christ on Earth, gathered in the communion of love, around the priests and the Bishop, loyal to the word of the Logos.

On this occasion the Bishop attached V. Rev. Protodeacon Petar Mrakic, previously a deacon of the St. Lazarus Cathedral, to the Holy Altar of the Church of Saint George in substitute for the retired V. Rev. Protodeacon Zivota Petrovic. Protodeacon Petar came to Cabramatta as a worthy labourer of the Lord’s field, well-known for having one of the best voices in the Serbian Orthodox Church. Bishop Irinej, when announcing this new appointment, pointed out that it is his honour and pleasure to present his faithful people and the historic Cathedral in Cabramatta with the best that he can offer, in order to further the embellishment of the Lord’s service at this holy place.

Protodeacon Petar expressed his gratitudes to the Bishop for his paternal caring, to his former dean V. Rev. Protopresbyter-stavrophor Miodrag Peric, his new co-celebrants Fr Djuro Djurdjevic and Fr Nemanja Mrdjenovic, as well as to all the faithful people and the Church Board for the warm welcome into the new ecclesial family. The recording of his address in this very emotional moment for both him and his family, as well as the Cabramatta parish, is presented in the attachment.
