The Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand invites all its faithful from across Australia and New Zealand to come together in a display of unity at an unique event commemorating 800 years of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s autocephaly and 70 years of its organised Church life in Australia and New Zealand, on Saturday the 7th of September 2019 at the grounds of the future St Sava College in Varroville – Sydney
ADDRESS: 381 St Andrews Rd – (via Campbelltown Rd) Varroville
The celebration will commence with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 9:30am, with participating hierarchs from our local Church and other Orthodox sister Churches, together with numerous clergy from our Metropolitanate, and other Orthodox Churches.
This jubilee, in which we celebrate our identity as the posterity of St Sava, will be under the spiritual auspices of Hilandar monastery. Namely, we anticipate being blessed with the presence of the Most Venerable Abbot of Monastery Hilandar on Mount Athos, Archimandrite Metodije, whose visit will be of an immeasurable significance for the Serbian Orthodox and Orthodox faithful in general.
The visit of Abbot Metodije will be the first visit by an Abbot of Hilandar after the blessed visit of the Venerable Elder Nikanor who blessed this land with his sanctified footsteps in 1990, and whose holy relics now rest with us in the Monastery of St Sava in Elaine, VIC.
After Divine Liturgy, a luncheon will be served, followed by a rich cultural program.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
